There’s been a tremendous amount of hype surrounding all these new developments, but, for once, we are thinking that there really is some power that is beneath the hype that is worth paying attention to.

We tried out that new caller ID spoofing service meant for law enforcement agencies, private investigators and collection agencies. We were able to make calls pretending to be from satan (666-666-6666) as well as from pi (3141592653), fake movie people (555-555-5555) and lastly, Tommy Tutone (867-5309). How did we do this? With a new service from Star38.com.

Motorola supports the same protocols espoused by other major players like L.M. Ericsson, Siemens AG and Nortel Networks Ltd. Nokia Corp. is taking another route in what some experts believe may create interoperability obstacles with PoC.
There are no final standards yet,but there are directions, and they are towards PoC as an IMS service running over IP.
